Delivering projects

It is essential that the projects are realistically assessed as to whether they can be delivered locally. A workshop with the agencies and / or commercial organisations that may have a hand in delivery will clarify the gaps in funding, resources or commercial / political will. Project ideas can then be tailored to offer the best chance of success. This ensures that the eventual programme is realistic and viable.

One way to do this is to run group 'game' sessions - either on the same day or separately - for the various key interests. From these sessions, prioritise, say, the top twelve projects.

Then invite the agencies or other organisations - who are some of the key interests - to indicate which projects they will support. This could be through, for example:

  • Funding
  • Help in kind
  • Endorsement

Draw up a matrix of projects against agencies, and fill in the cells with symbols indicating the type of support. You will then rapidly see which projects are most feasible.

The next step is to appoint project "drivers" and form "teamlets" to support them in their development work.
