These
pages aim to help those planning to use the Internet and other
new media technologies within housing projects. We are working
with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation,
and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, on a toolkit for social
landlords and residents.
As
part of the project we are developing our workshop 'game'
for housing situations. We'll be developinga substantial set
of pages about the project - meanwhile here is a first version
of materials.
Workshop
materials
These
materials including a card 'game' which helps those developing
housing initiatives discuss and plan what might be involved.
If
you just want to get started, the short instructions are:
- Download
and cut up the cards
- Bring
a group of people together, and work in groups of up to
7-8 to first discuss the problems/challenges facing your
housing scheme
- Then
ask each group to use the cards to develop a plan of action.
Put a 'budget' limit of say 12 points on the plans (each
card has a budget of 1-3).
- Review
what the implications of developing the plan would be
in terms of skills, costs etc. The instructions
give more detail
Online
resources
This
site contains a lot of resources for those developing community
networks, with links to other sites. These are likely to be
relevant for those developing area-wide housing projects.
See
also the Guide
to Getting Communities Connected, developed by the Making
the Network team.
We
would really welcome feedback and ideas on developing the
games further.
